Bola Tinubu Congratulates UK Prime Minister, Keir Starmer

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria extended his heartfelt congratulations to Keir Starmer, the newly elected Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. 

This significant gesture came in the wake of the Labour Party's victory in the UK general election held on July 4th, 2024. The election saw millions of voters heading to the polls to elect Members of Parliament (MPs) to the House of Commons, with the Labour Party securing the required 326 parliamentary seats to form a government.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu praised Starmer's determination and leadership qualities, which were instrumental in the Labour Party's ability to reform, mobilize, and achieve victory after 14 years in opposition. 

Tinubu highlighted that this victory is a testament to Starmer's courage and dedication throughout his tenure as the leader of the Labour Party since 2020.

President Tinubu also commended the citizens and government of the United Kingdom, lauding the country as a steadfast model of democracy and a long-standing partner of Nigeria.

He expressed his anticipation of strengthening bilateral relations between Nigeria and the UK, focusing on mutual interests such as enhancing democratic institutions and building a safer and more prosperous future for the people of both nations.
