Girin Card Secures FinCEN MSB Registration. Here's What It Means for XRPL.
We're Now Registered
Girin Card has secured its Money Services Business (MSB) registration with FinCEN, the U.S. Treasury's financial intelligence unit, under the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) AML/CTF compliance framework.
This registration demonstrates the implementation of a compliance framework commonly expected of regulated financial service providers. It covers certain fiat and virtual currency-related activities under a unified regulatory framework, with a fully implemented AML/CTF program in place.
For a crypto-native card product, this matters. It is an important regulatory milestone for bringing a card program to market, and it provides the compliance foundation needed to establish banking relationships, process real-world payments, and work with institutional partners at scale.
What the MSB Registration Enables
With the MSB registration in place, Girin Card can operate the payment flow it was built for. When you tap your card, your XRP or RLUSD is converted to fiat at the point of transaction through integrated liquidity partners and processed with efficient settlement. Merchants receive fiat through existing payment networks, while users spend supported digital assets converted at the point of transaction. Your assets stay in your self-custody wallet until the point of sale.
The card connects directly to Girin Wallet, now trusted by over 150,000 users on the XRP Ledger, and supports payments at over 130 million Visa merchants in 150+ countries, in both virtual and physical card formats, with Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay integration. The MSB registration helps enable this entire flow to operate within an established regulatory and compliance framework in coordination with regulated financial partners.
What We're Building Next
The FinCEN MSB registration provides the regulatory foundation. Here's where we go from here.
Our roadmap includes enterprise-grade APIs and white-label payment infrastructure that will allow partners to launch their own card programs on rails we've already built and tested. We're also working toward expanding our regulatory footprint into additional jurisdictions.
The XRP Ledger has proven it can move value at speed and scale. The products that let people actually use that value in their everyday lives are what's been missing. That's what we're building, and the MSB registration is the compliance layer that helps make it possible.
