CLICKS iPhone Keyboard Case Review: Rediscovering the BlackBerry Vibe

After using a touchscreen for so long, typing on the screen can feel cumbersome. Using a full QWERTY keyboard on an iPad or typing on a small iPhone screen feels uncomfortable, similar to missing a soccer ball while kicking. This isn’t great for finger joints either.

However, I’ve never used a mobile device with a physical keyboard. I once wanted to try a BlackBerry, but financial constraints kept me from experiencing it. After the release of the iPhone 3Gs, I stuck with iPhones and never used a device with a physical keyboard.

TYPO2 Keyboard Case Experience

Around the time of the iPhone 6, the TYPO2 keyboard case was released. I used it for a long time because it had well-designed angled QWERTY keys. Although it was heavy and thick, and lacked a home button for Touch ID, making Korean-English switching inconvenient, it was enjoyable to use. However, the company didn’t release new products after some time, so I stopped using it when I switched to the iPhone 7 series.

LILYGO Bluetooth Keyboard Experience

Recently, I found a BlackBerry keyboard sold on AliExpress that connects via Bluetooth. Although the key feel was good, its non-case form and Bluetooth connectivity made it inconvenient, so it ended up in my drawer quickly.

CLICKS Keyboard Case Reservation and Purchase

I came across the CLICKS Keyboard Case on Twitter and immediately pre-ordered it. I chose the London Sky color, as black wasn’t available and the other color was too bright. However, the manufacturing issues delayed the delivery, and even after receiving it, the paint wasn’t perfect.

One Day with the CLICKS Keyboard Case

After a full day of use, I found that the CLICKS Keyboard Case offered better functionality than the TYPO2. However, its finishing felt cheap, and its smaller keys led to more typos. Additionally, it lacks MagSafe, making wireless charging impossible, though it supports Lightning pass-through charging.

I rely heavily on wireless charging in my environment, so I purchased a Baseus MagSafe sticker for the case. This addition, though, made it a bit cumbersome to handle, especially for one-handed use.

Long-term Use: One and a Half Months Review

After a month and a half, I’ve grown accustomed to the typing experience, with fewer typos and faster speed. I enjoy using various features, such as calling Spotlight with specific key combinations. The keyboard enhances my web browsing experience by providing a larger, unobstructed screen.

Conclusion

For those interested in a physical keyboard and who frequently use their iPhone for text input, I highly recommend the CLICKS Keyboard Case. If you’re concerned about the additional weight, it might not be for you. However, if you value the typing experience, it’s a fantastic addition.
